Weathered Oak

Weathered Oak is a finish that gives the oak wood a "weathered" look. It is a silky finish that highlights the natural beauty of oak wood. This finish consists of stain, primer and acrylic lacquer. The stain is made in Germany and has the role of pigmenting the oak surfaces giving them a brown, earthy, neutral color. The primer and the lacquer are made in Germany and offer a good protection to the surfaces.

The Weathered Oak color is very suitable for most styles and rooms and has the ability to bring the naturalness of oak in any arrangement without eclipsing the other pieces of furniture in the room.
Weathered Oak is a frequently chosen finish because it allows a very easy maintenance of the surfaces. The combination of color, oak texture and gloss, hides very well any layer of dust deposited on the surface of the furniture.

Color and gloss:
The color Weathered Oak is earthy, calm, neutral and warm. It is composed of the following colors and shades: brown, green, gray, burgundy, purple, gold, yellow. It is an ultra-matte finish, the degree of gloss being 1 - 1.5.
The final appearance of the surfaces finished in Weathered Oak will be influenced by the color of the oak elements from which the furniture is made. Even if Weathered Oak has the property to give to some extent a uniform look and color to the various elements of timber from which the furniture is made, the final look will be greatly influenced by the color and texture of each element of oak present in the furniture. Thus, it is very possible that different components of the furniture will have different shades. Nevertheless, the general appearance will uniform, tone-on-tone. But in the end, this feature is one of the things that make the Weathered Oak finish so popular and sought after.
Note:It should be noted that there may be small color differences from batch to batch. Therefore, in case of purchases made at different times of products in the Castle Oak finish, products that will be placed close to each other, in the same room, we recommend that you provide us with a reference sample from the previously purchased product. (for example: a door, a drawer, a shelf, etc.).
Being a lacquer with quite good UV resistance, the color will be stable and will not change significantly over time. The furniture will eventually acquire a slightly warmer touch.

Texture, appearance and touch:
Even if the finish is pigmented, the texture and the appearance of the oak will not be dimmed. On the contrary, the texture and the appearance of the oak will be highlighted in a balanced way, preserving the characteristic appearance and beauty of natural oak.

Once the coating is completely dried and matured, the only perceptible odor will be that of oak wood.

Physical properties:
The acrylic lacquer used is of very good quality and offers an increased resistance to scratches and wear.
This varnish has a good UV resistance, the color will be stable and will not change significantly over time. The furniture will possibly acquire a slightly warmer touch.

Maintenance:
The maintenance is easy to do. The lacquer offers a good protection against dirt and stains.

Toremove dry stains or stubborn dirt, use a clean and non-abrasive slightly damp cloth (in water or in a diluted solution containing water and a mild detergent or soap), after which wipe again the surface with a dry, soft and clean cloth. The wiping should be done along the direction of the wood fiber.
In all the cases described above, you should avoid applying pressure to the surface you are cleaning and do not insist too much on a certain area as you will change the degree of gloss of that area (the action is similar to polishing).
Do not use for cleaning and maintenance sprays and universal cleaning products, abrasive paper, steel wool or corrosive products as they can attack the lacquer film generating traces that cannot be removed. "Pronto" type products that contain wax can change the gloss of the surface.
Aggressive substances such as acetone, thinners, concentrated alcohols, etc. should never touch the lacquered surfaces.
We recommend the periodic repositioning of decorative objects placed on the finished surfaces.
The placement of furniture in direct sunlight or near heat sources that can "wash" wooden surfaces (fireplace, radiator, strong lamps, etc.) should be avoided. Even if it offers a pretty good sealing of the surfaces, the acrylic lacquer allows the wood to "breathe" and there will always be an exchange of humidity with the air in the room. The ideal humidity in the room is between 40% and 60%. Too low or too high can damage the furniture.
In case of significant surface damage (for example: scratches) it will be necessary to strip the surface and reapply the coating.
